Payment Terms - when booking direct

50% payable at time of booking

50% payable 60 days prior to planned/booked arrival date

Payment can be made by UK cheque made payable to 'Platform 1 Castle Howard Station' or please request bank details if you wish to pay by bank transfer online.

Refunds - when booking direct

If cancelled more than 90 days prior to planned/booked arrival date:

A full refund of the deposit will be returned immediately.

If cancelled within 90 days of planned/booked arrival date:

50% of the deposit will be returned immediately.

If we receive a replacement booking we will gladly refund any deposit owing.

If cancelled within 75 days of planned/booked arrival date:

No refund of deposit will be eligible, unless we receive a replacement booking. We will then refund any deposit owing.

If a deposit has been paid by Debit or Credit card we reserve the right to deduct any commission charge paid to the Bank or Credit Card Company

Arrival and Departure

Weekly rentals:
Arrival on Friday and departure on Friday.
Except any date adjustments at Christmas/New Year.

3 night weekend breaks:
Arrival on Friday and departure on Monday

4 night mid-week breaks:
Arrival on Monday and departure on Friday

Arrival and Departure times – as we complete a thorough cleaning of the accommodation on departure we would ask you to observe the following arrival and departure times. If you need to arrive earlier, please let us know and we will always do our very best to accommodate you.

Arrival from 4pm onwards

Departure by 10am

Maximum occupancy

The maximum occupancy of Platform 1 accommodation is two adult persons and up to two dogs. We are sorry but children under the age of 16 are not permitted. If you require accommodation for more people please enquire with the owners.

Pets

Well-behaved dogs are most welcome! We always ask you to make sure that any dogs’ mess is cleared up in the bags and bins provided! If you would like to leave your dog for part of the day, we will arrange it for you at a small extra charge, but dogs should never be left alone in the apartment in case of their doing damage to it.

Smoking

No smoking is permitted in any internal areas of the building, although an ashtray is provided in the patio area.

Railway property

The boundary between Castle Howard Station and the railway line is clearly defined by secure and well-maintained fencing. This fence is for the protection of people and pets staying at Castle Howard Station, as well as ensuring maximum safety on the railway line. The owners of Castle Howard Station do not permit any person to access railway property or land beyond by crossing this boundary by climbing the fence or by any other means. Access to the other side of the line only at official crossing points at Crambeck and Kirkham.

There are many excellent and safe vantage points to photograph passing trains – please use these and resist the temptation to trespass on railway property.

Parking

Ample private parking space is available free of charge. All motor vehicles are left unattended at owners own risk. Please advise us if you have motorcycles and cycles, as we can provide secure, undercover storage.

Laundry

There are full laundry facilities the other side of the car park and plenty of space to hang out wet walkers’ coats and boots

Damage

The person who booked accommodation may be liable for the cost of replacement or repair if they or a member of their party causes damage to any part of Castle Howard Station property, fixtures, fittings, furniture, decoration or equipment either deliberately or due to neglect.

If you have pets, please respect the furniture. We will be pleased to provide you with covers and pet bedding if you require it; please ask in advance.

More favorable consideration will be given if accidental damage is reported during the stay or before check-out.

Keys

The charge for lost keys is £25. Guests who inadvertently forget to leave keys at check-out may post keys back within 14 days without any charge being applied.

*Extra nights subject to availability and at the discretion of the accommodation provider.

 

Prices

We reserve the right to change our tariff at anytime without notice. However, the price is fixed when we confirm your booking.

Cancellation by accommodation provider

The contract to provide accommodation will be made when we send your booking confirmation and will only be cancelled by ourselves due to events beyond our control such as illness of the owners or failure of facilities i.e. power, plumbing or heating to such a degree that it renders the property unsuitable to let. In such an unlikely event we will endeavor to give as much notice as possible and assist with alternative arrangements. A full refund of your deposit will be made but we will not be held liable of any additional costs.

 

Please help us by leaving the accommodation as you found it! We always complete a thorough cleaning between lettings. However we would really appreciate it you could help us by leaving the accommodation in a clean and tidy fashion.

We commit ourselves to making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, and will be pleased to take any enquiries both before and during your stay at Platform 1.
